Matt studied Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art and spent six months on exchange at the Paris College of Art. He seeks to make affordable art with broad appeal. He likes to work across multiple formats. His preferred tools are brush pens, acrylic paint, watercolour, acrylic ink, and his Wacom tablet. He specialises in character-based work. His subjects are most often people, especially those captured by observational drawing. He likes to use this portrait work to inspire portrayals of animals, the natural world, mythology and legend. He is inspired by the sculptures and sketches of traditional artists, such as Gustav Dore and Honore Daumier.
